Weddings
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! We are delighted that you are considering being married at Peace Lutheran Church.
Our responsibility with couples to be married in our church is to help you understand the blessings of a Christian marriage worship service, to build relationships with other Christian couples, and to give you confidence that your wedding will be conducted with great joy and reverence. Obviously, since you have chosen to get married in a Christian church, your wedding service will be a worship service with God as the central focus. We think it’s wonderful that you and your fiancé have come to this point in your relationship. . .and that it is more wonderful still that you will receive God’s blessing in this setting on the day of your wedding.
How do we schedule a wedding at Peace Lutheran Church?
Call the church office at 952-944-6510 and speak to Sue or Lori. You can also send an email to lori.thomson@peacebloomington.org. We will check the church calendar to see if the date is open. If the date is open, the next step is to speak with Pastor Mark Nelson.
What type of pre-marital
counseling is required?
All couples must take a written Prepare-Enrich Inventory. The results of this inventory will be used for up to four pre-marriage sessions set up between the couple and the Pastor Nelson.
May we have our own pastor
officiate?
No, but we do permit pastors to co-officiate. If you have a pastor who you would like to co-officiate, please discuss this with Pastor Nelson.
How do we select musicians and music for our wedding?
Peace can give you suggestions for musicians or you may find your own. We will also assist you in selecting music that is appropriate for your wedding service.
Is it necessary to be a member of Peace Lutheran Church to be
married here?
It isn’t necessary to be a member of Peace to be married at Peace, but differently fees apply for members and non-members.
What are the fees for a wedding at Peace?
The fee for members is $200. This includes the staff necessary during the use of the church, the sound equipment and cleaning after the ceremony. The couple is also responsible for the cost of the pre-marriage inventory ($35), the direct payment of the musicians and payment of an honorarium for the pastor.
The fee for non-members is $900. This includes the rental of the church and a fee for the pastor. Non-member couples will also be responsible for the cost of the pre-marriage inventory ($35) and the direct payment of the musicians.
If you decide to have your reception in the Parish Hall at Peace, there will be an additional charge. This applies for both member and non-member couples.
A $100 deposit is due upon booking the date. The balance is due at the rehearsal.
