Summer Opportunities

Peace has had a great summer filled with opportunities for children and youth!

The Peace House is a summer program that runs from mid June to mid August. We will have many exciting afternoons filled with games and fun. We will also take a variety of field trips. We will open June 14 through August 12.

We have several summer camp offerings for 2010. They are all great and one is sure to fit your needs! Registration forms are available for download underneath each camp/trip description.

Des Moines Service Trip-July 12-16

Current 8th and 9th graders (Fall, 2010) are invited to participate in a service trip to Des Moines Iowa, July 12-16, 2010. The cost will be $215.  Our trip to Des Moines will be a combination of service, cultural, and recreational experiences. We will be staying at Grand View College, and helping to meet the needs of the Des Moines community by partnering with local ministries. Deposit/Deadline is April 28. SportsLife Camp-July 12th-15th (evenings). 

SportsLife Camp is open to children entering 1st through 5th grades in the fall of 2010.  Sportslife Camps is all about reaching this summer. Reaching out. Reaching up. Reaching down. Reaching takes courage. Reaching requires effort. And God’s story is full of incredible reaches. God reached from heaven and entered humanity. Jesus reached out to call his disciples. A variety of people reached out to Jesus during his time on earth. And the greatest reach of all: Jesus reached his arms out in love to die for us. This summer, SportsLife campers will see how God’s story reaches into our own lives and call us to reach out to others.

Vacation Bible School July 19-23

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 19th through 23rd this summer.VBS is open to age 4-grade 4 (Fall, 2010),We will be part of God’s Great Get-Together with Baobab Blast! Set under the impressive baobab tree, kids will have the opportunity to hear the Word, be amazed at God’s wildlife creations, and be a part of a supportive community. This will be a life-changing experience for your kids as you gather together as a community and grow in faith. As the sun rises and sets on the savannah, so, too, will faith and relationships grow as kids explore connections with God, family, friends, and others around the world. Luther Crest Bible Camp, July 25-30.

Peace youth are invited to attend Luther Crest Bible Camp from July 25th through July 30th. This camp is for children currently in 4th through 6th grades. The 2010 Summer theme is Filled With Joy! Cost of the overnight camp is $350 with discounts available if you register online. "The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy."– Psalm 126:2-4.

Boundary Waters Trip July 31-August 6

The Boundary Waters trip will be a time for adventure: canoeing, camping, portaging and fishing. It will also be a time for relaxation, solitude, and spiritual renewal. Our group will partner with an outfitter that will supply all that we need—including a guide! This trip is for youth in 10th and 11th grade-Fall 2010. Cost is $365. Deadline/Deposit is due April 28.
