Ongoing Service Opportunity

Peace Quilters

The Peace Quilters make about 30 quilts each year, many are baby quilts given to the newly baptized members of Peace. Quilts are also given away to organizations with which Peace has a service relationship.

The Quilters are in need of fabric donations (100% cotton fabric) and all-purpose thread in any color to help continue this ministry.

You may bring your donation on Tuesday morning between 9:30am-12:00pm or on Sunday and place in the staff office area.

The Sheridan Story

Fridays | 8:15-8:30am | Poplar Bridge Elementary School, 8401 Palmer Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55437

We are seeking volunteers on Friday mornings (8:15-8:30am) to pack food in qualifying children’s backpacks to feed them over the weekend. We have open slots for March through May. Food packing is done at Poplar Bridge Elementary School. It only takes 15 minutes of your time and will help hungry children over the weekend.

To sign up, please send an email to Daina in the church office (daina.sivanich@peacebloomington.org) and let her know which Fridays you are interested in helping.

St. Mary’s Health Clinic Volunteer Opportunity

Have you heard of Doctors Without Borders? If so, have you dreamed of being part of their critical work around the world in dangerous foreign places? The good news is that we have opportunities right in the Twin Cities area for you!

That’s right, with St. Mary’s Health Clinics at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee and a clinic in Eden Prairie, there is a serious need for volunteers to provide medical care to low-income individuals and families who are ineligible for MNsure, cannot afford employer insurance, or need transitional care. Doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical personnel are needed as well as non-medical people who just want to help.

If you think you might be interested in volunteering, contact Sue Larson at the church office (952-944-6510 or sue.larson@peacebloomington.org) and she will connect you with a member of Peace’s Service & Mission Committee to provide you more information and answer your questions.

Blessing Bags

Ever wish you could do something to help when you are at a stoplight and see someone in need outside your car window? The Service and Mission Committee has funded supplies for “Blessing Bags” which contain items such as granola bars, toiletries, socks, and more. Those who are interested are encouraged to take 1-2 bags from the display in the narthex to keep in your car to distribute when you see a person in need as you are out and about.
