Adult Outing: “The Power and Beauty of China’s Last Dynasty” Exhibit at Minneapolis Institute of Art
Thursday, May 10, 2018 | 10:30am-4:00pm | Meet at Peace
First we will have lunch at Big Bowl (restaurant) and then we’ll go to the Minneapolis Institute of Art for “The Power and Beauty of China’s Last Dynasty”. Each room of the exhibit evokes an aspect of life within China’s imperial palace during the Qing dynasty, which ruled for more than 250 years, until 1911, and combined power with beauty—a golden age of art. The splendor of royal gatherings. Mystic teachings and the sacred rhythms of nature.
Before entering the exhibit we will stop for a Gallery Conversation with an MIA guide who will orient you to the exciting and unique exhibition layout. After our visit, the MIA guide will be on hand to talk about this immersive—even otherworldly—experience that evokes the world of the Qing court. We will be able to explore objects through touch on the China Art Cart. Objects such as garments, jades, lacquers, paintings, sculpture, and more.
The special exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art is $20.00 per person. The Gallery Conversation is free. Individuals to pay for their own lunch.
Please plan to meet at the church by 10:30am. We will leave in the church van at 10:45am and we will return to church at approximately 4:00pm.
Make your check out for $20 to Peace Lutheran Church and write “China Exhibit” in the memo line. Please sign up at the information kiosk, or call the church office to be added to the list. Questions? Please contact Rhonda Hansen at email@example.com.
