We hope to arm you as parents with the tools to help continue teaching your children the Good News at home and continuing your baptism promises. Following are suggestions for you as parents to help your children grow in faith.
“When we intentionally invite God into meal times, we remind children – and adults – how God is intimately involved in all of our lives. Furthermore, we demonstrate how to connect with God regularly and sincerely.” Read more by Gary Taylor on BuildingFaith.com
The average American spends 101 minutes a day driving! Why not consider using some of that time to connect with God, your family, and your community? Look at the letters of the license plates on the cars around you. Offer up a prayer for a person that you know whose name begins with the letter on the license plate. Of, if you see a car from a different state, pray for someone you know from that state, or for the people of that state as a whole. (Post from buildingfaith.com)
Thanksgiving Prayers for Families
Following are two prayers that you could use on Thanksgiving Day:
1. Our Father, we thank you for everything and for everyone gathered here today. On this day we remember all who have gone before us to help make this day possible. We thank you for your son Jesus who makes all good things possible. We thank you for our family and pray you bless everyone here. Lead us this next year and teach us how to be your children, to honor you with our whole hearts. Bless all the hands that prepared this meal. We honor you. In Jesus name, Amen.
2. Lord, so often times, as any other day; When we sit down to our meal and pray; We hurry along and make fast the blessing; Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing; We’re slaves to the old factory overload; We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold; But Lord, I’d like to take a few minute more; To really give thanks to what I’m thankful for; For my family, my health, a nice soft bed; My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head; I’m thankful right now to be surrounded by those; Whose lives touch me more than they’ll ever possibly know; Thankful Lord, that You’ve blessed me beyond measure; Thankful that in my heart lives life’s greatest treasure; That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place; And I’m ever so grateful for Your unending grace; So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You’ve provided; And bless each and every person invited. Amen!
