Education

Here We Stand The confirmation program runs on a three year educational rotation that covers the Old Testament, the New Testament, and some of the major themes of Lutheran theology. Each week, one of our staff members will spend about 15-20 minutes communicating the concept or idea of the week in easy to understand and relevant ways for the youth. The goal of this portion is not to dump information on the kids, rather it is to provide the kids with the tools they need to understand these areas on their own as they begin to explore what being a Christian is for themselves. After the message each week, the students will spend another 20-30 minutes in small groups discussing the topic of the night.

Community

CommunityGod desires that we work out our faith in the context of a community.  Confirmation, by its very structure, does just that. The incoming seventh graders will be with the same group of students throughout the confirmation program. They will learn together, go on retreats together, do social outings together and much, much more. Our hope is that by ninth grade, the students feel that they have developed at least a handful of peers that they can identify with as Christians at school. That way, when they get back to school--especially into high school--they will not be left to fend for themselves.

Service

FMSCWe feel that an essential part of the students becoming a part of the wider church body is community service. Over the course of their time in confirmation, they will be invited to carry out different roles within the life of the congregation. This could include reading during the service, greeting people as they come in, or a variety of other opportunities. Overall it is a gradual process whereby the students take ownership of the church.

Sunday School Assistants

If you are in Confirmation this year, then at some point you will be a Sunday School Assistant. Here’s what you need to know. If you are singed up to be an SSA, then you need to be in the sanctuary with the class you signed up for no later than 9:50. Make sure to introduce yourself to the teacher and the students. Have fun!

Sunday School Bible Study

If you aren’t a Sunday School Assistant or otherwise occupied during the education hour on Sundays, you are invited to the Fireside Room for Bible Study with Jason. Bring your Bible, just in case that wasn’t clear.
