At Peace, the mission of our youth ministry program is to raise generations of Christians who are passionately aware of and engaged in God’s movement to renew the world.

The major questions guiding this ministry that we strive to teach our children are:

  • Who is God?
  • What is God’s story?
  • How do we, as families and kids, participate in that story?
  • How do we as a community of families participate in that story?

Our Children’s Ministry program is for families with children with children from birth through Fifth Grade.

Nursery Care During Worship (Ideal for children from birth up to 5 years of age)

Each Sunday, year-round during worship services, we offer families the option of placing their children in quality nursery care. To access the nursery, simply bring your child to the lower level and check him/her in with the nursery attendant. While in the nursery, our youngest children will be cared for by compassionate and competent adults. Pagers are available for parents.

Sunday School (Ideal for children from 2 years of age through Fifth Grade)

Sunday School is our frontline ministry to children on Sunday mornings. Our Sunday School program starts with praising God with joyful song, music and worship. Peace utilizes the Augsburg Fortress Spark Activate Faith Sunday School curriculum which presents Bible stories that follow the Gospel lesson of the day in a three-year cycle. The curriculum includes age-appropriate prayer, discussion, and activities to enhance the lesson. Your kids will bring home leaflets for you to discuss as a family and a Family Page which offers suggestions for incorporating the week’s lesson in your daily family life.

To get your children involved with Sunday School, bring your Pre-K through Fifth Grade children to their classroom in the lower level at 10:45am. The Sunday School lesson will last until 11:20am when the teachers and children gather for Celebration Time. In this 10 minute wrap up, Robbie Cape, our Children, Youth and Family Ministries Director will recap the days lesson and MaryLynn Mennicke, Director of Music, will lead the children in singing. Sunday School concludes at 11:30am when parents come to the classrooms to get their children.

Celebation Time 1

Class assignments for the school year are determined by their age on September 1.

We ask that parents complete a Sunday School registration form or take a hard copy found on the Welcome Center Wall. Completed forms may be placed on the counter across from the reception desk. By the way, there is no cost for your child to participate in Peace’s Sunday School program!

Your kids will learn to love God, have fun, and make new friends!

Beyond Sunday School!

Sunday School Singers

Peace’s Sunday School Singers (kids aged 3 through Fifth Grade) sing eight times during the school year during worship. Invite your friends and family to watch your children sing!

Special Events

Periodically during the year, we host special events in which kids and their families can participate. From our Gathering Sunday to the Advent Festival to the there is no shortage of fun happening on Sunday mornings! Service

We have plenty of ways for the kids to serve their church, their community and the wider world. We have made Valentines for homeless children, helped pack food, and built dressers for example.

Fellowship

Peace values spending our lives together. To that end, Peace arranges social events throughout the year so that families can spend time together and our kids can get to know one another outside of church. We have had an apple orchard outing, gone sledding, and attended a Saint Paul Saints game. Many families meet for Peace at the Park on Sundays at 3:30pm at West Bush Lake Park #2 (95th Street and West Bush Lake Road). This is a casual, drop-in, “come if you can” event open to all families!
